a lot of you dont know who Giuseppe Tornatore is, he is an italian filmmaker...giuseppe is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time...he is extremely talented, dramatic, VERY VERY VERY VERY ROMANTIC, and an extrodinary visual artist...i myself, have been moved by his works like Malena, Cinema Paradiso, which these 2 became one of the 2 best films i have ever seen, and have been critically and award winning films...he is very unique...very talented, HE HAS WON A LOT OF AWARDS FOR EVERY SINGLE FILM HE MADE, and overall one of the best directors एवर
Giuseppe Tornatore is best known as writer/director behind the Oscar winning film CINEMA PARADISO.
At athe age of 16, the multi-award-winning Tornatore made a shoft film entitled Il Carretto (the wagon) which brought him to the attention of RAI television, with which he later collaborated on several TV films. He made his feature film debut with Il Camorrista, starring Ben Gazzara and Laura del Sol, winning the NASTRO D'ARGENTO (silver film award), and the Italian Golden Globe for best youn director.
Tornatore's second, breakthrough film, that became a cinematic epic masterpiece and classic very well knwon world wide was his 1989's CINEMA PARADISO, which on the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes film festival, a golden globe, a BAFTA award, and the Oscar Academy Award for best foreign picture.
Tornatore's third feature, "everybody's fine", starred Marcello Mastroianni and won the OCIC award at Cannes and a Silver Ribbon in Italy for best original screenplay.
IN 1995, Tornatore made L'UOMO DELLE STELLE (the star maker), whoch won the special jury prize at Venice film Festival, and was nominated for an Academy award as best foreign film. The film also won numerous silver ribbon awards that year in italy: best actor, best supporting actor, best cinematography, and best production design, as well as 3 Donatello awards, Italy's academy award.
Most recently, Tornatore won acclaim with THE LEGEND OF 1900, a fable about a paino player starring Tim ROth, who lived his entire life on the sea. In 1998, Tornatore was made a Commendatore of the Italian Republic (one of italy's highest awards) for his contribution to cinema. SInce 1990, Tornatore has been one of the founding memebers of the Philip Morris cinema project, dedicated to the restoration of Classics of italian cinema
